ARTIST STATEMENT
I first blew glass at around 30. At that time I had a well established woodworking studio in Ybor city with permanently installed pieces throughout the United States and one in Canada. It was clear from my first gather, however, that glass would dominate the rest of my life.
So began the the journey to learn as much as possible, with the equally important didactic component. I am equally dedicated to both and cannot conceive one without the other.
After all these years I am pleased to have many works in museums and permanent collections, as well as many students that have dedicated their lives to glass. But my search will be ever ongoing.
After co-founding and building East Falls Glass in Philadelphia, and developing it into the premier studio in the region, I am now on to building the glass studio at The Morean Arts Center.
The studio at The Morean will be state of the art and I have pledged to build the studio and then help to develop the program into one of the best anywhere.
I recently heard Yo Yo Ma in an interview say "I know how much I don't know". I keep that with me as I begin this new journey. Above all else I feel the need to learn more each day, and then pass it on for all to share.
